Information about the program: The Postgraduate Program in Agronomy (PPGAGRO) at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) is recognized for its excellence in training master's and doctoral students to work in teaching, research, and agricultural extension. Strategically located in Brazil’s agricultural hub, the Triângulo Mineiro region, the program aims to advance agricultural innovation and sustainability through high-level scientific research. Since 2018, the program has been based at the Glória Campus, which offers modern infrastructure, including specialized laboratories, a university library, and dining facilities—providing a practical and stimulating environment for research and education..

Background History: The PPGAGRO was officially established on December 21, 1999, by Resolution No. 07 of UFU’s University Council. The Master’s program began in March 2000, followed by the Doctoral program in March 2007. Initially, it had three areas of concentration: Phytopathology, Crop Science, and Soil Science. However, following recommendations from CAPES consultants, the program was restructured in July 2017 to have a single concentration area—Plant Production—aimed at promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and research integration.

Program Ranking: In 2022 the Program received a score of 5 from CAPES. 4.
